The Stages of a Commission
Contact: Email, write, or call me to discuss a potential commission. Describe what you want. This is a chance for us both to ask questions.
Quote: Based on our conversation(s), I will provide a quote and delivery time frame in writing for your approval. Commissions within the State of Texas will incur an 8.25% sales tax. Note: Prices start at $200 for a 6" x 6" oil painting and increase based on complexity and size. For pet portraits, the minimum size offered is 8" x 10" (vertical or horizontal) with a starting price of $400.
Down Payment: When you are ready to embark on the commission, I will email an invoice based on the quoted amount. Before work commences, you will need to make a non-refundable down payment of one half of the quote. Upon receipt of the down payment, I will order materials and begin your painting.
Progress Photos: Periodically, I will email progress photos of your painting. This is the time to make minor changes. To remain on schedule, it is imperative that you respond as quickly as possible to avoid potential delays in completion.
Drying Time: Drying time for oil paintings can be significantly affected by outdoor temperatures and humidity. This is especially true during the summer months. I currently live in Texas, so please keep this in mind.
Final Payment: I will invoice you for the balance due upon completion of your painting.
Shipping: Small paintings are carefully packed by me and shipped via USPS Priority. Larger paintings are professionally packed and shipped via UPS 2nd or 3rd Day Air. All artwork is insured for its full value. Delivery signatures are required.
