As a child in a military family, Kristine Kainer spent her formative years moving frequently along the Eastern Seaboard. She graduated from The College of William and Mary with a degree in Art History and high hopes. Unfortunately, job opportunities were unfulfilling. Returning to school, she earned a Master’s degree from George Mason University, and began a career teaching mathematics in the northern Virginia area.
When an opportunity arose to buy her husband's grandfather's 1928 farm in rural Texas, she and her small family left the hustle and bustle of the Washington, DC area to experience a slower, calmer pace of life. During this time of semi-isolation and reflection, her creative spark was ignited in the form of painting.
Self-taught, Kristine specializes in oils. Her subject matter focuses on long-time passions: food and all things coastal. Her works are found in both public and private collections nationally and internationally as well as group and solo exhibitions throughout the United States. She currently resides in the Austin, Texas metro area, but will be returning to her beloved Virginia in 2024. Commissions welcome!
